Pallets are made from wood, metal, plastic and paper, but are most commonly created from the former – wood. Ultimately, a pallet is a flat surfaced, short (slightly elevated) structure that is designed for storage and transportation of goods. Pallets can be used to store a wide range of goods, protecting them from a certain degree of flooding due to their elevation. At Rentacrate, we supply specialist plastic hygiene pallets.
Their design of our plastic hygiene pallets allow for easy manoeuvring of large amounts of stock with the minimum of effort – the manner in which pallets are constructed allows for forklifts and jacking devices to safely move them without fear of damaging what is placed upon them. In addition, the stock can be secured further by film wrapping to the pallet.
Rentacrate stock of rental pallets, are supplied in the UK standard 1200mm x 1000mm footprint. Thank you for visiting the Rentacrate website, we thank you for your interest – and hope you enjoy doing business with us. Further factual information follows:
Since the early twentieth century, the pallet has been used to store and carry things, developing slowly from what was known as a wooden skid. The wooden skid was introduced first with the low lift truck and consisted of stringers fastened simply to a top deck. At this point, no formal pallets had been designed – so more common were boxes, crates, kegs, barrels, and other such storage containers.
Then the first forklift truck was introduced into the industrial world in 1915, and when it was realised that the two had a link, they both took off. In 1919, the first pallet lifting forklift was released, a simple modification of the original pallets and the forklift was all that was required.
Today we use the pallet more than we might realise, as they are now more just a warehouse accessory. Now, you can do more than move objects and stock around within warehouses, but across the world on universal pallets that have been optimised to be easy to transport around the globe increasing efficiency and safety. |
